I find that as I am talking with my Baptist brothers that they rely heavily upon methods when witnessing. As Pentecostals, I am exited that the only method we really need is listening to the Holy Spirit. We as Pentecostal believers can "see" into the hearts of men. I do believe that methods have their place,(such as for new believer)but let us not rely so heavily upon a method that worked for someone else, and rely more upon the Holy Spirit in our witnessing. Sometimes we forget that God wants the person we are sharing with to be saved more that we ever could.
I am so thankful to see a post like this. Most churches seem to be moving away from the leading of the Holy Spirit and into the new social gospel, seeker-sensitive movement. We think couches and soft lighting and coffee and gray areas will draw man to God, instead of preaching the Cross of Christ. It seems to be man trying to save man with his own methods, instead of drawing close to the Holy Spirit and depending only on Him. Really it goes against what the Bible teaches...We preach Christ and Him Cruicified.....for I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We search Bible versions until we find one that seems to convey what we want to hear. Why do we forget that it only takes an honest desire to preach the true gospel for God to annoint. And it only takes a few seconds in the Presence of Almighty God to heal, deliver, save,...set free while man's empty words of his own philosophy does nothing for the lost soul. Your entry has been an encouragement.
