A word from Coleen Griswold…

It has been my heart’s desire throughout our ministry to see people who have a relationship with Jesus Christ mature to the point that their lives glorify God. I’m thoroughly convinced that reading God’s word and truly filling our minds and hearts with His thoughts will help us live the mandates of God’s word in a practical sense.

Ann Aiken, a friend from Eagle River, Alaska, shared this Bible reading strategy with me last year and predicted it would bring changes in my life if I tried it. She was right…I am changed, and I have discovered that spending more time reading my Bible is making a marked difference in my thoughts and my actions. Most Bible reading plans involve reading 3 to 5 chapters a day. Sitting and reading the Bible for 30 minutes or an hour per day has increased my faith and given me a completely different perspective on the overall picture of God’s Word.

A large-print Bible divided into four smaller sections makes it portable and easy to read. The practicality of always carrying the current portion that I’m reading is easier than carrying my huge Bible. When I taught school, I carried a rather heavy Bible back and forth every day. This is much lighter in weight so that it slips into my purse and is less likely to be dropped. When I’m flying, I have to consider weight and love having my lightweight Bible right with me. One portion went with me to Israel and to China this year and goes with me daily as we travel Illinois.

Whether you use a Bible you already have or buy one of these separated Bibles, I sincerely urge you to spend more time reading God’s word in the year 2010.
